six days at the end of the world, with your ever impending death... So much could have gone wrong but this game is fantastic, harrowing, beautiful and disturbing all at the same time, the atmosphere was perfect and the pixel animation just made it even better.
this game is pure art.
on my playthrough i died alone in my lab trying to find a cure. i enjoyed the lack of replayability as it shows that in this situation you only have one chance (which is something that was reiterated all through the game), also when you die the screen doesn't fade out, it just stays on your character, dead and lonely, was a bold and stunning choice which worked very well.
another thing i was in awe of was the fact that you felt the characters so deeply despite the game only lasting 5-10 minutes... the suicide of Dr Pilgrims wife and the death of his child were deeply unsettling... i mean if you were put in that position how would you react, it sounds odd but really there isn't a right way you can act in the situation: you work, your wife kills herself and you and your child suffer. You spend time with your family, you're selfish for not trying to find a cure for the apocalypse that you created.
the music also fitted perfectly in the atmosphere and was a brilliant choice as the wrong music could have destroyed this game.
i wish there were more games like this... games with a soul...
i liked it.... backtracking normally annoys me but this had a kind of metroid vibe to it and the backtracking worked well.
the enemies were cool and just varied enough to keep it interesting, althought the boss was too easy.
